Top-down AI-generated sewer battle map of a round cistern junction where walkways meet over green water, with a plank bridge, a grate and a ladder shaft

About the AI Sewer Map Generator

Sooner or later every city campaign goes underground. The sewers are where the thieves' guild meets, where the cult hides and where the chase ends up, and they make good fights because the terrain does the work: narrow walkways, water nobody wants to fall into and a grate that is the only way out.

The Text to Tabletop AI sewer map generator turns a description into a finished tunnel section. Name the layout the encounter needs (two channels meeting at a cistern, a walkway with a plank bridge, a flooded chamber, a hidden door into a lair) and the generator paints it from directly above at battle scale.

Every map is locked to a straight-down view with no baked-in grid, so it lines up with the grid in your virtual tabletop. If a walkway is in the wrong place or a channel should be dry, select that area and regenerate only that part while the rest of the tunnels stay as they are.

Use Cases

  • Chases under the city: long channels and side tunnels for a pursuit that started on the street above
  • Thieves' guild hideouts: a dry chamber off the main tunnel with crates, bunks and a secret way in
  • Cult shrines: an old cistern turned into a place of worship, with candles on the walkways and something in the water
  • Monster lairs: an otyugh pit, a nest of giant rats or a flooded chamber where something large waits below the surface
  • Smuggling routes: a tunnel that runs from the docks to a warehouse cellar, with a boat tied up at the end
  • Flooding traps: sluice gates and a rising water line that turn the walkways into the only safe ground
  • Old city ruins: the sewer breaks into the buried streets of an older city built on the same spot
  • Escape routes: a grate, a ladder shaft and a locked gate for players who need to get out fast

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the AI Sewer Map Generator.

What kinds of sewer maps can I make?

Any tunnel section you can describe: brick channels, stone walkways, round cisterns, sluice gates, collapsed sections, smugglers' docks and hidden chambers. Name the water, the walkways and the ways in and out, and the generator draws them.

How do I make a sewer encounter more than a corridor?

Give the map a junction and a choice. A prompt such as "two channels meet at a round cistern with walkways on both sides and one plank bridge" or "a flooded chamber with a raised dry platform at the far end" gives the fight a place to hold and a reason to move.

Can I build a whole sewer network?

Yes. Generate each junction or chamber as its own map with the same description of the brickwork and the water, so the sections feel like one system. Separate maps also let you reveal the network one tunnel at a time as the players explore.

Will these maps work in Roll20, Foundry VTT and Owlbear Rodeo?

Yes. Maps come out at 1K, 2K or 4K as standard image files, drawn with no grid lines so your virtual tabletop can lay its own grid over them, and Foundry VTT users can also export a .dd2vtt file. They import into Roll20, Foundry VTT, Owlbear Rodeo and Fantasy Grounds like any other map.

Is there a free trial, and what does it cost after that?

Yes. New accounts get 3 free tokens, enough for three maps at 1K or one at 4K, so you can generate a sewer junction and try a second idea before deciding whether to buy. No credit card required. After that, a $1 trial pack is available once per account, then packs from One More Map at 4 tokens for $2, or a Pro Plan at $10 a month for 50 tokens.

Do my tokens expire?

No. Tokens never expire. Whatever you do not use stays on your account, and Pro Plan tokens roll over from month to month instead of resetting, so a quiet month costs you nothing.

Can I change part of a sewer map after it is generated?

Yes. Select the area you want to change, for example to flood a walkway or add a hidden door, and regenerate just that area. The rest of the tunnels stay exactly as they were.
